Cate Brennan, a Democrat from Grapevine, faces Republican Armin Mizani for Texas House District 98 in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. Both appear on the certified ballot.
Brennan submitted a Surround Sound Media questionnaire on Oct. 5. The biographical details and priorities below are attributed to her answers.
Experience and education
Brennan describes herself as a retired business executive with 30 years of experience leading nonprofit organizations, primarily in health care. She says she was CEO of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and the Association for Vascular Access, and a senior executive with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
She says she earned an MBA from Texas Woman’s University in 2006 and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Texas in 1984. She identifies herself as a progressive Democrat and as precinct chair for Tarrant County Precinct 3706.
Priorities
In her questionnaire, Brennan calls for fully funding public schools, ending private school vouchers, returning curriculum decisions to local communities and lowering health care, electricity and other living costs. She also supports raising the minimum wage and protecting personal, religious and civil rights.
She says her experience negotiating compromises and working in coalitions would help her in the Legislature. She also pledges face-to-face town halls so constituents can be heard.
Her campaign issues page adds proposals to improve housing supply through regulatory changes, expand Medicaid and CHIP, and require large commercial electricity users to pay for their own power infrastructure.
