Tamika Taylor delayed launching her podcast for two years because the technology scared her. Now "Say More Words" ranks in the top 5% of self-help podcasts internationally, and Taylor said she has signed a deal with SiriusXM.
Taylor, a mindset coach and founder of Evolution Collective Co., was the keynote speaker at the 2024 Southlake Style Women's Luncheon. She told Southlake Style in an Aug. 4 profile that the podcast's growth caught her off guard after a hesitant start.
"Honestly, I should have created a podcast two years earlier than I did, but I was scared," Taylor said. "I was scared of the technology. I was scared of the work it was going to take."
Once she hit record, listeners responded.
One mother told Taylor her daughter, a college softball player, listens to episodes on the way to games. Taylor's most-shared episode, "Finding The Joy In My Trauma," has reached listeners across the globe. Taylor said sharing that vulnerable story allowed her to heal while helping others do the same.
The podcast celebrated its third anniversary on Monday, Aug. 3, with a community gathering at Stone House Restaurant, 5201 Colleyville Blvd. in Colleyville. The event also marked seven years of Taylor's work as a mindset coach.
Taylor holds a master's degree in leadership and more than 15 years of experience in personal development consulting. In 2022, she was named one of the Most Inspirational, Accomplished and Engaging Women of Tarrant County. Her client list has included Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits and government agencies, according to her professional website.
A July 9 Voyage Dallas profile confirmed she coaches executives and corporate leadership teams while speaking on stages across the country.
Taylor said self-help is the hardest podcast category to rank in, which makes the top 5% milestone meaningful to her. She is now taking the podcast live nationally and told Southlake Style her next target is the top 1% of self-help podcasts worldwide.
Taylor's next local appearance has not been announced. Residents looking for upcoming community events can check the Humane Society of North Texas MEGA Adoption Event on Aug. 15–16.
