Smallwood & Associates, the Colleyville accounting firm founded by Dan Smallwood in 1976, has reached its 50th year in business.
Cal Smallwood, Dan's son and the firm's managing partner, joined in 2003 and took over leadership in 2010, according to Community Impact.
A small accounting practice on Pleasant Run Road grew into a 26-person operation serving more than 2,500 clients across North Texas and beyond, the firm said in a LinkedIn post marking the milestone.
The growth has been steady. The staff includes 11 certified public accountants and five accounting professionals, according to the firm's profile on the Texas Real Estate Commission Research and Education Institute website.
Over five decades, Smallwood & Associates expanded well past its original bookkeeping and financial statement work into tax preparation, estate planning, consulting and forensic accounting. The firm serves individuals, businesses, estates, trusts and nonprofits from its office at 5320 Pleasant Run Road.
Cal Smallwood, a certified public accountant, has built on the foundation his father established by pairing what the firm describes as large-firm expertise with small-firm attention. Jamie Banks, also a CPA, serves as a partner alongside him. Banks has been with the firm for more than 15 years, according to its LinkedIn page.
Smallwood & Associates joins a string of NE Tarrant businesses marking major anniversaries this fall. Grapevine's BreadHaus celebrated 30 years on Oct. 12.
