Grapevine's October calendar runs from free outdoor festivals to a $35 lakeside charity concert and five weekends of live music on Historic Main Street.

Elizabeth Schrack of the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau outlined more than a dozen events in the city's October guide. Here are the highlights.

HeroFest and Nash Farm Fall Roundup: Oct. 10

Two free events share Saturday, Oct. 10. HeroFest runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Peace Plaza at Harvest Hall.

The event benefits the First Responders Children's Foundation and features Touch-A-Truck, face painting, balloon twisting, superhero appearances and a bounce house. Donations are encouraged.

The 25th Annual Nash Farm Fall Roundup runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Historic Nash Farm, 626 Ball St. Families can try traditional farm skills, heritage crafts and 19th-century fall activities. Concessions are available for purchase.

The night before, Friday, Oct. 9, Nash Farm hosts a Barn Dance from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $35 at the door for ages 3 and up. The evening includes a fried chicken box supper and a pie auction raising funds for Nash Farm's educational programs.

Concert on Lake Grapevine: Oct. 11

A daylong concert on Sunday, Oct. 11, brings four live bands to 1 Sunfish Drive on the shore of Lake Grapevine, with gates opening at noon and music running until 9 p.m. The lineup: Texas Moonflower (noon–1:30 p.m.), Little Queen (2–3:30 p.m.), Petty Theft (4–5:30 p.m.) and The Dead Thing (6–9 p.m.).

Tickets are $35. The event is BYOB with food trucks on site. Presented by Charity Grapevine and Tolbert's, proceeds benefit Grace Food Bank of Grapevine and the Miracle League of Southlake.

29th Annual Butterfly Flutterby: Oct. 17

The 29th Annual Butterfly Flutterby celebrates Monarch butterflies and their migration from Canada to Mexico through Grapevine. The free event runs Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grapevine Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park, 411 Ball St.

Activities include a costume contest, live butterfly releases, an arts and crafts station and photo ops at the Transition to Beauty Butterfly Sculpture, a 22-foot permanent installation at the gardens. Pets are welcome.

Free live music all month

The Grapevine Main LIVE! series brings free tribute and country acts to Peace Plaza every Friday and Saturday night in October. The schedule opens Friday, Oct. 2, with ToJo, a Toto and Journey tribute, and closes Halloween night with Like Combs, a Luke Combs tribute.

Other acts include tributes to Shania Twain, Dave Matthews, Miranda Lambert, Madonna and Chicago, among others. Country artist Justin Mason plays Oct. 10.
