Grapevine is packaging three of its signature attractions into a single Saturday outing starting Aug. 15, giving residents and visitors a guided loop through the city's aviation and railroad heritage for $22 a ticket.

The Planes & Trains Guided Tour runs most Saturdays through Nov. 21, according to the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau. Check-in starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Visitor Information Center inside Grapevine Main Station at 815 S. Main St.

The three-part itinerary starts with an elevator ride to the top of the 150-foot Grapevine Main Observation Tower, 12 stories above street level, where guides cover DFW International Airport's history and point out landmarks across the Metroplex. Participants then stroll Peace Plaza and walk through the 1888 Cotton Belt Train Depot.

Part two puts riders aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, which traces its roots to the Cotton Belt Route that first ran through town in the late 1800s. The railroad's six restored century-old coaches are all now fully climate-controlled after the final car was upgraded for the 2026 season, according to Fort Worth Business Press.

The tour wraps with a chartered shuttle ride down Historic Main Street, stopping at the 9/11 Memorial before heading to DFW Founders' Plaza. There, guests watch planes take off and land while a radio broadcasts live air traffic control communications between the FAA tower and pilots. Founders' Plaza, dedicated in 1995, is open daily and free on its own, but the guided tour bundles it with narration and transportation between stops.

The CVB marketed the tour as an outing for history buffs, aspiring train conductors and transportation enthusiasts of all ages in a Facebook post on Aug. 10.
