Halloween events across Grapevine, Southlake and Colleyville pack into a single week, running Oct. 24 through Oct. 31. Families and adults both have options, from a costumed train ride to a six-stop winery trail.

The Grapevine Vintage Railroad's Trick 'R Treat Trains top the family lineup with a 90-minute ride featuring themed music, decorations and a live interactive story, according to Community Impact Newspaper. Children receive a prepackaged bag of candy after the ride.

Costumes are encouraged.

Trains run Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. and Sunday, Oct. 25, at noon and 2 p.m., according to Community Impact. Tickets are $22 per person. The railroad departs from 705 S. Main St. in Grapevine. A separate Plano Moms listing credits the onboard performance to the Grapevine Vintage Railroad Theatrical Players and says treats come from Rocket Fizz.

The Southlake police and fire departments host a free Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Southlake DPS Headquarters, 600 State St. The event features candy, costumes and decorated car trunks. The first hour is sensory-friendly, with fewer lights and less noise, according to Community Impact.

Colleyville's Haunted Trails takes over the Colleyville Nature Center on Thursday, Oct. 29. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and the haunted walk runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m., according to the city of Colleyville. Scare actors dressed as zombies, witches and clowns roam the trails. A DJ and food trucks round out the evening. The city recommends the event for pre-teens and older.

For adults, the Witches' Brew Train boards at 7:50 p.m. Oct. 30 and 31 on the same Grapevine Vintage Railroad line, according to the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau. Tickets are $90 for a bench that seats two. Guests must be 21 or older.

The Hallowine Trail on Saturday, Oct. 31, takes guests to six wineries in and around Grapevine's Historic Main Street District. Each stop serves a flight of three wines and a food item. Tickets are $55 in advance or $60 at the door. The trail runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and guests must be 21 or older, according to the Grapevine CVB.

Community Impact also listed a Magical Murder Mystery Dinner with Messina Hof wine and a Sommelier Smackdown wine-pairing competition. Dates and ticket prices for those two events were not included in the available listings.

Beyond Halloween, the Colleyville Public Library hosts a free Backyard Composting class on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in meeting room B at 110 Main St. A library card is required to register.
