The county’s official court page identifies McCoy as the court’s judge. County Criminal Court No. 3 is part of Tarrant County’s misdemeanor courts and is located in the Tim Curry Criminal Justice Center in Fort Worth.
Background and experience
The Texas Judicial Branch biography says McCoy completed undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University and earned his law degree at the University of Houston. Before law, he worked as an engineer.
He clerked for the Texas Supreme Court and later practiced at Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff and Miller. Gov. George W. Bush appointed him to the 48th District Court in 1995, and Gov. Rick Perry appointed him to the Second Court of Appeals in 2003. After 11 years on the appeals court, he ran for County Criminal Court No. 3, according to the biography.
