Steven Jumes, the Republican judge of Tarrant County’s 485th District Court, is listed on the certified ballot for the Nov. 3, 2026 general election. The secretary of state’s certification lists no other candidate for this seat.

Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Jumes to the court in August 2022. The appointment announcement describes his prior work as a federal prosecutor in the Northern District of Texas and as a felony prosecutor in Tarrant County.

Before joining the bench, he also worked at Brown PC, Varghese Summersett and his own law practice. The governor’s announcement lists criminal-law board certification and bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
