The Southlake Public Library is asking patrons to help mark its 25th anniversary by decorating paper squares for a community memory quilt that will hang on the library's walls.

The library opened Sept. 26, 2001, inside Southlake Town Hall at 1400 Main Street, Suite 130. Its quarter-century milestone falls on Sept. 26, and the quilt is the signature project for the celebration, according to an announcement on My Southlake News.

Participation is simple: pick up a blank paper square at the library during regular hours, write or draw a favorite memory on it, and drop the finished piece in a collection basket.

Staff will add each square to a growing quilt displayed on the library's interior walls. The library suggested memories such as a first book checked out, a favorite reading spot, or a librarian who steered a patron to the right shelf.

Squares are available during regular library hours, with no announced deadline for submissions.

The project is separate from the City of Southlake's 70th incorporation anniversary, which will be celebrated with a free block party at Southlake Town Square on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The library is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Other upcoming programs include a reading session with Evan Seven, a certified therapy dog, on Saturday, Sept. 5, and a Mooncake Cooking Experience on Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Parkwood Training Center.
