Southlake's Sign Board will consider a brand-new master sign plan for an office condo development and an amendment to the sign plan for a luxury apartment building near Town Square when it meets Thursday, Aug. 20.
The two cases on the agenda, posted by City Secretary Amy Shelley on Tuesday, Aug. 11:
MSP26-0001: Shady Oaks Office Condos, 515 and 521 W. Southlake Blvd. This is a first-time master sign plan for the office condo development. The agenda does not detail the specific sign types, sizes or locations the applicant is requesting; those details are included in the staff report presented at the meeting.
MSP26-0003: Residences at Southlake, 1530 Meeting Street. This is an amendment to the already-approved master sign plan for the 55-unit luxury apartment community steps from Southlake Town Square. The property, developed by San Antonio-based Kairoi Residential, features units ranging from approximately 1,707 to 3,489 square feet with rents starting around $8,334 per month. The agenda does not specify what changes the applicant is seeking to the existing sign plan.
What a master sign plan governs
In Southlake, a master sign plan is a property-specific document that dictates sign locations, types, materials, sizes, colors, illumination and mounting methods for a development. Once the Sign Board acts, its recommendations go to City Council for final approval.
That two-step process played out earlier this year when the board approved an amendment for Granite Place Two at 601 State Street in February, and council gave final approval on March 3.
How to attend
The Sign Board meets at Town Hall, 1400 Main St. The work session begins at 6 p.m. in the Executive Conference Room (Suite 268), followed by the regular session at 6:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers. Both sessions follow the Planning and Zoning Commission's meetings that same evening.
As of the board's Jan. 8 meeting, members included Chair Daniel Kubiak, Michael Forman, Michael Springer, Gina Cannova, David Cunningham, Stacy Driscoll and Lora Gunter. Planning Director Dennis Killough and Deputy Director Jennifer Crosby staff the board.
