Republican Charles L. “Chuck” Vanover seeks reelection to Tarrant County Criminal Court No. 8 in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. He is the only candidate listed for the office on the certified ballot.
Professional background
According to his campaign biography, Vanover worked as a police officer before graduating from law school and becoming a Tarrant County prosecutor. He says he took the bench in 2015 and also presides over the Veterans Treatment Court and Public Safety Employees Treatment Court.
The campaign says he graduated from Grapevine High School, Texas A&M University in College Station and Texas Wesleyan School of Law, which later became Texas A&M School of Law. It also describes service as staff judge advocate for the Texas State Guard.
Judicial approach
Vanover’s campaign emphasizes reducing the trial docket and case backlog so victims and defendants can have timely hearings. Those statements are attributed to his campaign, rather than presented as independently measured results or Surround Sound Media questionnaire answers.
