Colleyville residents can donate blood and pick a side in a rivalry between the city's police and fire departments at a two-day blood drive in October.

The Colleyville Police Department is partnering with Bedford-based Carter BloodCare for its "Battle of the Badges" blood drive on Monday, Oct. 5, and Friday, Oct. 9, at the Colleyville Justice Center, 5201 Riverwalk Dr. Both sessions run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The concept is simple. Donors choose whether their donation counts toward the police department's tally or the fire department's.

The department with the most units donated wins bragging rights. Every donor receives a free t-shirt.

This year's event is a rematch. The police department won the inaugural Battle of the Badges in October 2025, collecting more donated units than the fire department.

The department announced the results on X, thanking everyone who donated or encouraged others to give.

In its Sept. 17 announcement of the October 2026 drive, the police department urged donors to help police defend their title.

The announcement described the competition as open to anyone willing to roll up a sleeve, regardless of which team they support.

The department has not published an online registration link for the event.
