Southlake Carroll swept Granbury 25-10, 25-13, 25-10 on Friday, Oct. 30, to open defense of its Class 6A Division II state volleyball championship.

Carroll won every set by double digits at Brewer High School in Fort Worth, according to Fort Worth Star-Telegram bi-district results.

The Lady Dragons rode a 13-match winning streak into the postseason and kept it going, the Dallas Morning News reported. During that run, Carroll dropped just four sets and picked up two victories over back-to-back state champion Trophy Club Byron Nelson.

Carroll entered the playoffs at 22-11 overall and 13-1 in district play, according to a Hood County News preview. Granbury came in at 18-26.

The Lady Dragons won the program's first UIL state championship in November 2025, beating Austin High in five sets, according to Carroll's student newspaper, Dragon Media. Senior Audree Hughes, a member of that championship team, told Dragon Media in a September article that the title still resonated with the program.

That state title helped Carroll ISD claim a record-setting 10th Lone Star Cup, the UIL's all-around excellence award covering athletics, academics, music and fine arts.

Heritage rallies past Frisco

Colleyville Heritage dropped the first set to Frisco but stormed back to win three straight, taking the Class 5A Division II bi-district match 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.

The Panthers carried a 24-match winning streak before Highland Park snapped it on Oct. 13, according to a Dallas Morning News playoff preview. Heritage responded by advancing through bi-district in four sets.

Grapevine's season ends

Grapevine fell to Frisco Memorial 25-17, 25-21, 25-16 in a 5A Division II bi-district match. The loss in straight sets ended the Mustangs' 2026 season.

What's next

Carroll advances to the area round of the 6A Division II bracket. Coppell and Plano also won 6A Division II bi-district matches. Heritage moves on in the 5A Division II bracket, where Argyle and Fort Worth Eagle Mountain also advanced.
