Tickets went on sale Aug. 4 for the People's Choice Wine Tasting Classic at GrapeFest's 40th anniversary celebration, giving wine lovers a chance to save $4 to $5 per session by buying early before the Sept. 17–20 festival on Historic Main Street in Grapevine.
Standard tasting sessions cost $28 in advance versus $32 at the festival gate. VIP sessions, which have limited capacity, run $55 in advance and $60 during the event, according to the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau. Sessions sell out quickly, and the CVB recommends buying early.
What you get
Each 90-minute session includes a souvenir wine glass, samples from 40 wineries pouring more than 100 Texas wines and face time with the winemakers. Attendees then vote in 10 categories spanning white and red varietals, including dry whites, rosés, bold reds and sweet blends.
The competition bills itself as the largest consumer-judged wine tasting in the nation. Participants must be 21 or older.

Standard sessions:
- Sept. 17: 7–8:30 p.m.
- Sept. 18: 7–8:30 p.m.
- Sept. 19: 1:30–3 p.m., 3:30–5 p.m., 5:30–7 p.m., 7:30–9 p.m.
- Sept. 20: noon–1:30 p.m.
VIP sessions:
- Sept. 18: 5–6:30 p.m.
- Sept. 19: 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Sept. 20: 2–3:30 p.m.
GrapeFest general admission is sold separately from tasting tickets. Admission is free all day Sept. 17 and on Sept. 18 until 5 p.m.
