Grapevine's BreadHaus bakery turns 30 on Saturday, Oct. 24. One customer will walk out with free bread for a year.
The European-style artisan bakery at 700 West Dallas Road plans surprise giveaways throughout the day, Community Impact first reported. The first 30 guests will receive a commemorative BreadHaus tote bag. One customer will win free BreadHaus bread for a full year. More than 200 people had marked interest in the event on the bakery's Facebook page as of Oct. 12.
The bakery opened in 1996 on Grapevine's Main Street under the name Wildflower Baking Co., founded by Mark and Petra Lively. It moved to its current Dallas Road location in 2000 and took the BreadHaus name. The bakery describes itself as one of the only European-style bakeries in the Dallas-Fort Worth area dedicated entirely to naturally leavened, long-fermented bread made with organic ingredients.
Bryan and Fara Motta, the bakery's current owners, took over in June 2024. Bryan Motta, who previously worked in software, told the Fort Worth Report in February 2025 that the couple spent years looking for the right fit.
"We spent years searching for a business that aligned with our values, and BreadHaus stood out as a perfect fit," he said in that interview.
In the same interview, Bryan Motta said the Grapevine location baked 80 to 120 sourdough loaves per day, rising to 140 to 150 on holidays. He said the sourdough uses just three ingredients: flour, water and salt. Each loaf goes through a three- to four-day fermentation process, he said. The bakery says its products contain no commercial yeast, preservatives or artificial additives, according to Community Impact.
Under the Mottas, BreadHaus has expanded beyond Grapevine. The couple opened a second location in Frisco at 1606 FM 423, Suite 400, with a grand opening Sept. 12, 2026. They also launched a national franchising program in November 2025 and partnered with Walmart to offer pickup and delivery across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The Grapevine bakery's 2025 gross revenue reached $739,533, according to BreadHaus's franchise disclosure document. Those figures are unaudited and self-reported.
BreadHaus Grapevine is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Oct. 24 anniversary celebration begins when doors open.
