A halal-certified Mediterranean chain opened its third North Texas location on Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Grapevine, adding gyros, rice bowls and smashed pita sandwiches to a stretch of Northwest Highway near the Gaylord Texan resort.

Gyro Rice and Spice is now serving at 919 E. Northwest Highway, Suite 200, directly across the street from the Gaylord Texan, Hoodline reported.

The chain also operates locations in Trophy Club at 2220 TX-114, Suite 430, and in Dallas at 7722 Forest Lane.

Restaurant staff confirmed the opening to Connor Pittman of Community Impact.

The menu includes gyros, salads, bowls and feta fries. A falafel rice bowl is among the options, and the Trophy Club location lists a gyro rice bowl at $15.50 and a spicy chicken wrap at $12.50 on Yelp.

The chain's signature dish is its smashed pita. It layers ground beef, mozzarella, garlic sauce, lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles onto a warm pita, according to Community Impact.

No owner or operator has been publicly identified for the chain. The restaurant's Instagram page lists all three locations and uses the hashtags #halal and #dallashalalfood, but does not name a proprietor.

Hours for the Grapevine location were not posted on the restaurant's website or social media pages as of Friday, Aug. 28. The Trophy Club location is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, according to its Yelp listing.

The restaurant's website also lists an Oak Point location as "coming soon," suggesting the chain may be planning a fourth North Texas store. The site still described both the Oak Point and Grapevine locations as upcoming, so the page may not have been updated since the Grapevine store opened.
