Pokeworks in Southlake ranks among the chain's top 10 locations nationwide, a milestone its owners marked alongside the restaurant's fifth anniversary.

Chuck Lo and Jean Xue have owned the poke bowl restaurant at 2801 E. Southlake Blvd., Ste. 120, since it opened Aug. 28, 2021. Steady community support carried the business to the five-year mark, Xue told Community Impact on Sunday, Sept. 13.

The Southlake store regularly places in the top 10 among more than 70 Pokeworks locations across the country, she said.

That ranking matters for a franchise bet that started at the family dinner table.

Lo and Xue have lived in Southlake for 20 years.

They opened the restaurant after their daughter Lydia, a Carroll High School cross country elite varsity runner, struggled to find local restaurants that matched her strict training diet.

The location was the third Pokeworks in the Dallas-Fort Worth area when it opened.

"I first learned about poke from my daughter, who follows a strict, healthy diet to compete on the local high school cross country team," Xue said in a press release at the 2021 grand opening. "Once I tasted it, I decided I wanted to bring a delicious poke experience to Southlake."

The chain, founded in 2015, serves customizable bowls, burritos and salads built around Hawaiian-style poke, a dish of diced raw fish mixed with rice, vegetables and sauces. Customers can also choose cooked options with chicken or shrimp, or have pieces of raw fish torched. The build-your-own format lets diners pick proteins, toppings and sauces.

Lo and Xue are active in the Southlake Chamber of Commerce and support local charities including GRACE and Special Olympics, according to a January 2026 Southlake Style profile.

That profile covered a separate venture the couple launched: a flex-office space in Southlake aimed at hybrid and remote workers.

Lo and Xue plan to expand the Southlake Pokeworks' catering business, though no specific timeline has been announced.
