Southlake residents can buy 5-gallon trees through the city's 2026 Trees in 2026 initiative, with the first of two fall purchase windows open since Aug. 3.

The program aims to plant 2,026 trees across the city by year's end in honor of Southlake's 70th anniversary, according to My Southlake News. Launch 1 runs Aug. 3 through Sept. 6. Launch 2 runs Sept. 7 through Oct. 4.

Each window offers a selection of 5-gallon trees.

Buyers have two options. Under the "Plant It Yourself" track, residents purchase a tree, pick it up and plant it on their own property. The second option, "Volunteer Delivery & Planting," is available to residents 55 and older. Volunteers will deliver the tree and plant it for them.

Specific species and per-tree pricing are listed on the city's 2026 Trees in 2026 page, which also handles purchases.

The initiative has drawn private backing. At the June 2 City Council meeting, Mayor Shawn McCaskill thanked sponsors and donors supporting the tree program, according to council minutes.

Beyond the purchase windows, residents can participate at no cost. Free tree saplings will be available while supplies last at the Celebrate Southlake block party Sept. 12 at Southlake Town Square. The city also hosts community planting events and accepts volunteers throughout the year.

Sponsorship opportunities remain open for businesses and individuals who want to fund additional plantings.
