U.S. Rep. Beth Van Duyne will return to Congress for a fourth term after defeating Democrat Kevin Burge in the District 24 race.
Van Duyne, a Republican, collected 171,793 votes, or 53.4%, to Burge's 149,697 votes, or 46.6%, according to unofficial results reported by Community Impact on Nov. 4. CBS News projected the win for Van Duyne.
All results remain unofficial until canvassed.
Texas' 24th Congressional District covers northeast Tarrant County, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and part of northern Dallas County. That puts Southlake, Colleyville and Grapevine squarely in Van Duyne's territory.
Van Duyne has represented the district since January 2021, according to CBS News. Before entering Congress, she served as a regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She was the first woman elected mayor of Irving, holding that office from 2011 to 2017, according to her congressional biography and BallotReady records.
In Congress, Van Duyne serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and chairs the Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access, according to her congressional office.
During the campaign, Van Duyne said she would focus on tax cuts, economic growth and immigration enforcement, the Fort Worth Report reported.
Burge, a Marine Corps veteran according to CBS News, works as a cybersecurity manager at Caterpillar and served as a senior technical adviser during President Joe Biden's administration, the Fort Worth Report reported. He campaigned on affordable housing, immigration reform, civil liberties and expanded access to health care and education, according to CBS News.
The fundraising gap was wide. Van Duyne reported raising $2.1 million and spending $3.3 million between Jan. 1, 2025, and Oct. 14, 2026, with $1.6 million cash on hand, according to federal campaign finance filings cited by the Fort Worth Report. Burge raised $334,210 and spent $252,864 over a shorter filing period starting April 1, 2025, with $81,346 on hand.
Van Duyne's new term begins in January 2027.
