American Airlines is bringing a premium check-in service to its home hub for the first time and planting an early flag in DFW Airport's $4 billion Terminal F, two expansions that will reshape the travel experience at the airport on Grapevine's doorstep.
The Fort Worth-based carrier will open a Flagship check-in area near Gate D30 in Terminal D later in 2026, The Dallas Morning News reported. The dedicated space will give eligible premium and loyalty customers a private environment with one-on-one assistance from American employees before they reach the gate.
American already operates Flagship check-in at hubs in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Miami, plus London Heathrow. DFW will be the first location at the airline's largest hub, where it handles more than 80% of flight operations. That's a first for the carrier's home base.
"We're investing in every stage of the premium travel journey at DFW, beginning the moment customers arrive at the airport," American Airlines Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden said July 20.
Terminal F: 15 gates in 2027, 31 at full build-out
Separately, American confirmed it will open a Provisions by Admirals Club grab-and-go kiosk inside Terminal F's initial phase. That first building will span 400,000 square feet and include 15 gates when it opens in 2027, according to Community Impact.
The full terminal will eventually grow to 31 gates with its own ticketing hall and baggage claim, all operated exclusively by American.
The Provisions concept offers fresh food, premium beverages, and travel essentials in a grab-and-go format. American opened its first Provisions location in Charlotte and plans a second at New York JFK later in 2026, Travel Weekly reported. The Terminal F kiosk will be the new terminal's first lounge option.
Restaurant leases for Terminal F were approved in June 2026, giving early shape to the dining lineup travelers will find when the terminal opens.
What it means for Grapevine
DFW Airport sits within Grapevine's city limits, and anyone who flies in lands in Grapevine. The airport contributed more than $78.3 billion annually to the North Texas economy and supported more than 684,000 regional jobs, according to a December 2025 economic impact study by The Perryman Group. That figure has grown 69% since 2014.
The airport handled 85.6 million passengers in 2025 and expects to reach 100 million annually by the end of the decade. Its broader $12 billion capital program, which includes Terminal F, new gates, and upgraded roadways, is projected to generate nearly $5 billion in additional tax revenue at completion.
As we reported July 20, American also announced a 37,000-square-foot Admirals Club in Terminal C near the Skylink station.
Together, the Terminal C lounge, Terminal D check-in, and Terminal F kiosk represent a coordinated push to upgrade premium amenities across the airport's busiest terminals.
Steven Jones, senior business engagement manager with Grapevine Economic Development, said June 22 that the airport's growth positions the community to benefit from increased tourism. "The entire metro has prepared for this for years, and we're ready to receive visitors from dozens of countries," Jones said.
No specific opening month has been announced for the Terminal D Flagship check-in beyond "later in 2026." Terminal F's first phase is expected to open in 2027.
