Southlake Carroll graduate Tyler White leads all FBS punters in average through four games at Texas A&M.
The senior earned the Ray Guy Award National Punter of the Week for Week 4, the Augusta Sports Council announced Tuesday, Sept. 29. White punted seven times for 363 yards against LSU on Saturday, Sept. 26, averaging 51.9 yards per kick. His long was 58 yards. A career-high six of those punts traveled more than 50 yards, and three landed inside the LSU 20-yard line.
White forced two fair catches, and the one punt that was returned went for negative yardage.
Through four games, White's 50.0-yard average on 15 attempts sits nearly five yards above his career mark. Ten of his 15 punts have gone 50-plus yards, seven have landed inside the 20, and opponents have returned just six all season for a combined minus-2 yards.
The honor is White's second career Ray Guy weekly award. He first won it in 2024, the same season he earned semifinalist recognition for the full Ray Guy Award and a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team.
White built his leg in Southlake. At Carroll, he set a school record with 154 career extra points and scored 205 total points as an All-State kicker and punter. As a senior, he connected on 79 of 81 extra points and 10 of 12 field goals, including a 55-yarder that tied the school's distance record, according to Southlake Style. He earned a spot on MaxPreps' All-America second-team defense and a selection to the 2023 All-American Bowl.
White was also a two-sport standout. He helped Carroll's baseball team win the 2022 UIL 6A state championship, pitching 1⅓ scoreless relief innings in the title game.
He played under then-head coach Riley Dodge, who posted a 108-10 record over eight seasons at Carroll before leaving for SMU's coaching staff in January 2026. Dodge went 14-1 in his final season with the Dragons.
White is four 50-yard punts shy of matching the single-season mark he set in 2025. He and the Aggies host Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Kyle Field, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
