Carroll ISD claimed its record 10th UIL Class 6A Lone Star Cup, scoring 132 points to break its own 6A record. No other 6A district in Texas history has won 10.

The trophy was presented at halftime of the Dragons' home football game against Northwest Haslet Eaton at Dragon Stadium on Friday, Sept. 25. The UIL announced the winners on July 1, with trophy ceremonies held in the fall at each winning school's choice.

Carroll's 132 points topped runner-up Flower Mound ISD by 20, according to Carroll ISD's announcement. Flower Mound finished with 112. The previous 6A record of 131 also belonged to Carroll.

The Lone Star Cup, first awarded in 1997-98, recognizes one school per UIL conference for overall achievement across sanctioned academic, athletic and music competitions. Carroll had finished as runner-up in 2025 before reclaiming the title.

The 132-point total drew from more than a dozen programs. The Lady Dragons volleyball team won the program's first UIL state championship, defeating Austin High School in five sets in November 2025. Boys cross country claimed its seventh consecutive state title. Football reached the state semifinals. The girls soccer team advanced to the state semifinals before falling to Forney High School in April. Carroll also finished as state runner-up in VEX robotics and girls golf, placed third in boys wrestling and boys swimming and diving, and finished fourth in girls swimming and diving.

Dragon Media, the school's student newspaper, reported specific point contributions: volleyball led with 16, girls water polo and girls soccer each added 12, robotics contributed five on the road to the VEX Robotics World Championship, and UIL Academics added four at the district tournament in March.

"When all that comes together, I mean, there's a reason why we have 10," Carroll Senior High School assistant principal Charlie Liles told Dragon Media.

Carroll also picked up a second honor. The Texas High School Athletic Directors Association (THSADA) named the Dragons the inaugural Class 6A recipient of the Texas Cup on June 8, recognizing the state's top overall athletic program.

Area schools in Conference 5A also earned Lone Star Cup points. Grapevine High School finished 10th with 72 points, powered by state championships in boys cross country and mixed doubles tennis and a girls soccer state semifinal run. Colleyville Heritage tied for 55th with 37 points, according to Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.

Carroll entered the Sept. 25 matchup against Eaton 8-0 all-time against the Eagles dating to 2018.
