Grapevine will spend $425,000 over the next five years to keep the Texas Women's Open at Grapevine Golf Course after the City Council voted unanimously Tuesday, Aug. 18, to extend the Convention and Visitors Bureau's title sponsorship of the tournament through 2031.

The deal escalates from $80,000 in 2027 to $90,000 in 2031, funded entirely from the CVB's incentives fund. It replaces a three-year agreement struck in 2024 that cost $75,000 a year.

CVB executive director Paul W. McCallum told the council the tournament has grown rapidly since moving to Grapevine. In its first year at the course in 2024, the event drew golfers from 12 countries and 15 states. By 2026, that field expanded to players from 19 countries and 28 states, according to Community Impact.

Northern Texas PGA CEO Mark Harrison also addressed the council.

"We feel like we have found a true home for the tournament right here in Grapevine," Harrison said. "We look forward to bringing the Texas Women's Open to Grapevine Golf Course for many years to come."

The Destination Grapevine Texas Women's Open is an official event on the ANNIKA Women's All Pro Tour. It was first played in 1933 and held its 46th edition this year. Grapevine Golf Course is a 27-hole facility designed in part by Byron Nelson and D.A. Weibring.

What the city gets

Beyond the naming rights, the agreement gives the CVB five pro-am teams (15 spots) in 2027, with one additional team added each year until it reaches nine teams in 2031. Each team is paired with a professional golfer during the pro-am round.

McCallum said the city has used those spots to host meeting planners from around the country who evaluate local hotels, generating corporate meeting business for Grapevine.

The deal pays off locally, too.

The Northern Texas PGA will award an annual $5,000 college scholarship to a junior tour member, with preference given to a Grapevine-Colleyville ISD senior. Grapevine's Audrey McCallum received the scholarship after the 2026 tournament in June.

All five tournaments under the new deal carry a minimum purse goal of $100,000, up from a projected $80,000 purse for the 2026 event, according to city documents.

The 2027 tournament is scheduled for June 2-4 at Grapevine Golf Course, with a pro-am day on June 1.
