Grape Vine Springs Winery leads its Night Watchman Tour through Historic Main Street in Grapevine on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. The walking tour pairs local ghost stories with a complimentary glass of wine for $25, according to a Community Impact event listing.
Owner David Besgrove, who has run the winery at 409 S. Main St. since 2004, built the tour around first-hand accounts from business and property owners who say they've experienced paranormal activity in their buildings.
He first launched ghost tours at his Fort Worth Stockyards tasting room before bringing the concept to Grapevine.
"Within a month or so, we realized we were very haunted in this 100-year-old building," Besgrove told Grapevine Economic Development in March 2022. "So my tours started there, in the stockyards, because there's a lot of hauntings and history in the Fort Worth Stockyards."
Besgrove wrote the tour scripts himself and trained guides to lead them. Some guides have theater backgrounds, according to the winery's profile with Grapevine Economic Development.
He described his research method in that same 2022 interview: combining historical records with one-on-one conversations with people who report strange experiences in their buildings.
The Night Watchman Tour runs Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and shuts down in December when Main Street fills with Christmas Capital of Texas events. Groups of 10 or more can book a private tour. Tickets are available through the City of Grapevine's TicketLine system.
