Shoppers at Grapevine Mills can now browse more than 500 international snacks, drinks and candies under one roof after Exotic Snack Guys opened its first Northeast Tarrant location inside the mall.
The Chicago-based chain, which stocks items from Japan, India, Mexico and dozens of other countries, announced the opening on Instagram on Aug. 19. The store is located at 3000 Grapevine Mills Pkwy.
Employee Syed Malik told Community Impact Newspaper the store rotates its inventory every two weeks "in order to keep the supply fresh and interesting for customers."
The shelves won't look the same visit to visit. The retailer also sells mystery boxes starting at $25, which include an assortment of snacks, candies, chocolates and drinks.
The Grapevine Mills opening is part of a broader Texas push that also includes a location at The Galleria in Houston. The brand describes itself on social media as a TikTok-viral retailer specializing in hard-to-find and limited-edition treats.
The store's product count differs slightly depending on the source. The brand's Instagram post advertises snacks from "50+ countries," while Malik described inventory from "over 40 countries" in his interview with Community Impact.
Japanese variety retailer Daiso closed its Grapevine Mills location in August, according to Community Impact, meaning the mall continues to see retail turnover. Exotic Snack Guys fills a different niche with its rotating international inventory.
A 10% grand-opening discount is available at the store, though no end date for the promotion has been announced. With stock rotating every two weeks, the chain says repeat visits will turn up new finds each time.
