Southlake drivers face lane closures and at least one detour across six concurrent road and utility projects that began earlier this week, according to city alerts and a notice published by My Southlake News.
The projects stretch across some of the city's busiest corridors, including E. State Highway 114, S. White Chapel Boulevard, and N. Carroll Avenue. Most work hours fall between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., outside peak commute windows, but several projects run as early as 7 a.m.
SH-114 underground utility work
A contractor began underground utility work July 13, along SH-114 between W. Kirkwood Boulevard and T.W. King Road. The right westbound lane will close intermittently during work hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The project is expected to last approximately two weeks, putting the estimated completion around later this month.
T-Mobile tower installation near Continental Blvd roundabout
T-Mobile contractors began installing a cellular signal enhancement tower Tuesday, July 14, near 1219 S. White Chapel Blvd at the eastbound exit of the E. Continental Blvd roundabout. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through the end of July.
A detour for eastbound Continental Blvd traffic was expected to last approximately three to four days from the July 14 start date. The posted route sends drivers north to Southlake Blvd, east to Byron Nelson Pkwy, then south back to E. Continental Blvd.
Atmos gas work on N. Carroll Avenue
Atmos Energy began gas utility work Tuesday, July 14, on N. Carroll Avenue between Ownby Lane and E. Southlake Boulevard. The work supports the new Willow Tree Gardens development, which the Southlake City Council approved on a 7-0 vote in March. The right southbound lane is closed in the work area during daily hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the project is expected to continue through the end of July.
S. White Chapel Boulevard road improvements
A city contractor began road improvements Wednesday, July 15, on S. White Chapel Boulevard from Continental Boulevard to Southlake Boulevard. This project has the widest daily work window: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., overlapping with both morning and evening commutes. Work is expected to wrap up by next Friday.
S. Carroll Avenue concrete repairs
City Streets crews began concrete road repairs Tuesday, July 14, near 1080 S. Carroll Avenue. One lane is closed, but traffic continues through the open lane. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday, July 24.
Brumlow Avenue one-day repair
Southlake Public Works will complete road repairs at the new entrance to the Municipal Service Center at 1630 Brumlow Avenue on Monday, July 20. Work runs 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with flaggers directing traffic. The city expects the job to be finished in a single day.
All timelines are weather-dependent. The city asks drivers to follow posted traffic control signs and allow extra travel time near active work zones.
