Grapevine's Weinberger's Deli will shut its doors for five days starting Monday, July 27, to finish a kitchen expansion that sets the stage for the restaurant's first breakfast menu.

Day manager John Kirkpatrick told Community Impact Newspaper the deli at 601 S. Main St. will close through Friday, July 31, and reopen Saturday, August 1. He called it the final planned round of renovations that began earlier in 2026.

What's being built

The work will expand the kitchen to make room for additional equipment and staff, add a coffee and tea brewing station, and install a sound system and new lighting.

The extra space will allow the restaurant to store ingredients for breakfast items Kirkpatrick said should hit the menu in August or early September.

The closure caps a renovation push that already added 60 chairs in a new dining room earlier this year. Weinberger's, a sandwich shop on Grapevine's historic Main Street known for a menu of more than 150 options, took second place at the 30th annual Great Taste of Grapevine on April 29.

What it means for regulars

Customers planning to visit the deli between Monday, July 27, and Friday, July 31, will need to make other lunch plans.

The restaurant normally operates Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., though hours should be confirmed directly at (817) 416-5577.

When the doors reopen Saturday, August 1, the new coffee and tea station will be ready. The breakfast menu, which Kirkpatrick described as the reason for the added kitchen storage, will follow within weeks.

During the FIFA World Cup in June, the deli ran a promotion featuring international sandwiches, according to Grapevine Economic Development. The breakfast launch would mark another expansion of what has traditionally been a lunch-and-dinner operation.

Kirkpatrick did not specify what breakfast items would be offered or whether morning hours would change.
