American Eagle Outfitters is moving into the former Nike storefront at 181 Grand Avenue in Southlake Town Square.

New signage already covers the windows at the space, Southlake Style first reported Friday, Oct. 23. The store will sit next door to Aerie, American Eagle's sister brand.

No opening date has been announced.

The denim and casual-apparel chain replaces Nike, which opened at Town Square in 2022 before closing in 2026. That closure was part of a broader national pullback by the sportswear giant.

Fast Company reported that at least 24 Nike Well Collective stores, the company's small-format neighborhood shop concept, have closed across a dozen states.

In April 2026, Nike announced it would eliminate 1,400 jobs, primarily in technology roles.

Nike CEO Elliott Hill addressed the closures during an earnings call. "Over time, we will continue to rezone and elevate our fleet and close the doors that are no longer aligned to our strategy," Hill said, according to Fast Company.

Nike still operates a clearance store at nearby Grapevine Mills, according to Southlake Style.

American Eagle's arrival continues a wave of retail turnover at the open-air shopping center.

Southlake Style reported in August that the shuffle has been "especially noticeable" this summer, with familiar storefronts disappearing and new brands arriving.

Recent additions include Crate & Barrel, which opened a full-line store in the former Market by Macy's space on June 25, and Reformation, now open at 213 Grand Ave. E.

Swiss performance brand ON Running is also targeting the second half of 2026 for a 6,000-square-foot storefront between Alo and Sunglass Hut at Town Square.
