Colleyville shoppers have a new reason to linger on Glade Road. Art Algebra, a gallery and coffee bar at 1001 Glade Road, Suite 100, opened with a soft launch in March 2026 and held its official ribbon cutting with the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce on July 14.

Owners Aashna Bharwani and Aatif Merchant, a married couple with backgrounds in education and economics, stock the gallery with handmade art sourced from India, the UAE, Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan. The pieces come from artisans who learned their techniques across generations of family members, the couple told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

"All those places where artisanship is still very much alive," Merchant said in a July 14 interview with the Star-Telegram, explaining why they chose those markets.

Before signing a lease, Bharwani and Merchant tested the concept at local pop-ups hosted at coffee shops including Pax and Beneficia. They chose the Colleyville space, next door to girligirl boutique, and remodeled it during their engagement. The couple married in the midst of getting the studio ready to open.

The coffee bar occupies a corner of the gallery that previously housed a pizza operation. Beans come from Dallas-based LDU Coffee, which does an Australian take on Italian espresso. The rotating menu includes maple nut, berries and cream, and a honeybee latte.

The name is part of the pitch. Merchant told the Star-Telegram the "algebra" refers to helping customers find the missing piece that completes a room. The gallery carries works with cultural themes of luck, wealth, prosperity and fertility. One standout piece, called "Circle of Life," took its artist 40 days to create and portrays oneness with nature, Bharwani told the Star-Telegram.

Art Algebra also hosts monthly vendor pop-ups, Mahjong nights and kids' art classes. The owners said they plan to expand by working with interior decorators and special buyers.
