Southlake Town Square is getting a specialty coffee shop with a slow bar, seasonal coffee flights and a chef-driven food menu when Ascension Coffee opens its seventh North Texas location this fall.
The Dallas-born brand is targeting an October opening at 100 State St., according to a Southlake Town Square spokesperson quoted by Community Impact. Ascension CEO Jessica Keenan called the Southlake shop "our largest yet" in an April interview with D CEO Magazine.
It will be the brand's biggest café to date.
The new location will feature a full espresso bar alongside what Ascension calls a "slow bar," where baristas manually prepare pour-overs and other single-serve drinks. Seasonal coffee flights, already offered at the company's Fort Worth location on River Run, will also be on the menu.
Beyond coffee, the Southlake shop will serve breakfast and lunch items including avocado toast, overnight oats and sandwiches. Executive chef Jason Connelly, who joined Ascension in 2021 after leading the kitchen at Dallas's Adolphus Hotel, oversees the culinary program.
Founded in 2012 in Dallas's Design District, Ascension Coffee now operates six cafés across the metroplex, in locations including Addison, Frisco's The Star and White Rock in Dallas. The company sources beans from more than 10 countries and partners with nonprofits supporting women producers in farming communities.
Keenan described the brand's expansion philosophy in the April D CEO Magazine interview: "We're very intentional about growth. We're a Dallas-rooted company, and we want to make sure every location fits the community it serves," she said. "We think of them as community hubs, and that requires being thoughtful about where we go next."
On its website, Ascension is already teasing the Southlake opening, telling future customers it "can't wait to welcome our new neighbors in Southlake."
No specific grand opening date has been announced beyond the October window. Residents can check ascension.coffee for updates.
