Activewear and essentials brand BYLT Basics opened a new store at Southlake Town Square on Oct. 8, adding to a growing roster of retail tenants at the outdoor shopping center.

The Irvine, Calif.-based company sells men's, women's and children's clothing that spans casual and athletic styles, according to Community Impact.

The lineup includes tank tops, polos and button-downs, plus hats, footwear and accessories. The brand pitches its apparel as versatile enough for the office, the gym or a weekend errand run.

BYLT Basics, pronounced "built," started in 2016 when founder Eric Mear set out to build a better T-shirt, WWD reported in April. The brand's hero product, the Drop-Cut Lux T-shirt, retails for $40. Its Everyday pant, a stretch chino, sells for $98 to $128.

The company has reported a 27 percent compounded annual growth rate over the past four years, according to WWD. Menswear still accounts for about 90 percent of sales, but the brand launched a women's line two years ago.

Mattucci, a member of the brand's management team, told WWD in April that the company had 13 stores at the end of 2025 and planned to reach 22 by the end of this year. The road map calls for 60 locations over the next four years. Existing stores sit in markets including Scottsdale, Denver, Houston and Boston.

"We believe deeply in brick-and-mortar retail," Mattucci told WWD. "COVID created this massive e-commerce boom, which we attribute a lot of our early success to. But I would argue the digital backlash has begun, and people want to go back out into the world, and they want to touch and feel brands."

The Southlake opening comes as the 130-acre Town Square complex continues to add tenants. Crate & Barrel returned to the center earlier this year, and Swiss running brand On Running is also expected to open there, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported in June. Jason Kasal, vice president and senior leasing director at Kite Realty Group, which owns Southlake Town Square, told the Star-Telegram in February that retailers at the center are posting strong sales numbers.

BYLT Basics is located at 214 State St., Ste. B48, in Southlake Town Square.
