The Carroll Dragon Band scored 87.750 to win the Bands of America Memphis Regional Championship on Saturday, Oct. 24, the program's first regional title in its history.

Competing at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee, the Dragons first captured the Class AAAA preliminary championship, Southlake Style reported. That alone marked the first class championship at a Bands of America Regional in program history.

The band wasn't done.

In the evening finals, the Dragons claimed the overall regional championship and swept all three caption awards: Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect.

The 87.750 score topped second-place Bartlett High School of Tennessee by a full point, according to FloMarching's weekend recap.

Twelve bands competed in the finals. Van Buren Senior High School of Arkansas placed third with 83.000, followed by Germantown High School of Mississippi at 82.450 and Arlington High School of Tennessee at 82.000.

The Carroll Dragon Band posted on Instagram that the program will next perform its show "Neon Noir" at the UIL 6A Area B Marching Contest on Saturday, Oct. 31. The post thanked band parents for their support and called the win historic.

The milestone adds to a strong stretch for Carroll ISD extracurriculars. The district announced in August that it will launch Advanced Academic Credit for Extracurricular Participation (AACE Credit) beginning in fall 2027.

Under that program, students who complete two consecutive years in qualifying activities, including band, can earn 10 points added to their semester grade for weighted GPA and class rank.

The first eligible students will be members of the Class of 2029.

The Dragon Band's next competition is Saturday, Oct. 31, at the UIL 6A Area B Marching Contest.
