Southlake Carroll's Lady Dragons volleyball team clinched the District 4-6A championship and will open defense of last year's Class 6A Division II state title against Granbury on Friday.
The bi-district playoff match is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Brewer High School in Fort Worth, according to Southlake Style.
Carroll locked up the district's top seed with a 13-1 record in league play, finishing 22-11 overall, according to MaxPreps. The Lady Dragons closed the regular season on a 12-game winning streak. Their only district loss came Sept. 11 against V.R. Eaton.
Head coach Leslie Jackson's squad won 12 straight district matches after that early stumble. The run included a 3-1 victory over Trophy Club Byron Nelson on Oct. 16. Byron Nelson won the Class 6A Division I state championship last season. Carroll also swept Keller Timber Creek twice during district play and finished with a 3-0 win over Boswell on Oct. 23.
Carroll enters the bracket as the No. 1 seed in 6A Division II from District 4-6A. Granbury, the No. 2 seed out of District 3-6A, finished 18-26 overall and 8-6 in district, according to MaxPreps.
The Lady Dragons are chasing a repeat. Carroll won the program's first state volleyball championship in November 2025, beating Austin High in five sets at the Curtis Culwell Center. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Carroll trailed two sets to one before rallying to win 15-10 in the fifth. Senior Kinsley Young, a TCU pledge, earned MVP honors with 22 kills. Audree Hughes added 15 kills, and Collins Alonzo posted 20 digs.
Hughes and Alonzo are both back on this year's roster. Hughes, now a senior outside hitter, and Alonzo, a sophomore defensive specialist, give Carroll tested playoff experience.
In Star-Telegram coverage published in November 2025, Jackson said the program's growth came from within: "They've just done an incredible job of building such a great culture."
That culture produced more than a volleyball title. Carroll ISD claimed its record-setting 10th UIL Lone Star Cup in 2025-26, scoring a Class 6A-record 132 points. The volleyball championship was one of two state titles Carroll captured that school year.
First serve Friday at Brewer is 6:30 p.m.
