Southlake Carroll's defending state champion volleyball team will begin its 2026 campaign right in the neighborhood, scrimmaging at Colleyville on Friday, Aug. 7, then heading to the Grapevine Volleyfest tournament Thursday through Thursday, Aug. 13–15.
The schedule, released by Southlake Style on Monday, Aug. 3, maps out a gauntlet for a program riding last November's Class 6A Division II state title. Carroll beat Austin High 3–2 on Nov. 22, 2025, at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland to claim the program's first volleyball state championship in its history.
Four key seniors from that 35–5 squad have graduated with Division I college commitments: Kinsley Young (TCU), Layla Austin (San Diego State), Teddy-Ray Ewers (Incarnate Word) and Abby Huddleston (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi). New contributors will need to fill those roles.
Two state champs, one district
The biggest storyline sits inside District 4-6A. Carroll and Byron Nelson, which finished 42–0 and won the 6A Division I crown, will share a district for the first time as simultaneous state champions.
The Lady Dragons face the Bobcats twice: Tuesday, Sept. 22, at a neutral site (Northwest) and Friday, Oct. 16, at home for Middle School Night.
That makes District 4-6A home to two reigning state champions.
Carroll also draws Keller twice, on Friday, Sept. 18, at home and Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Keller.
Non-district slate
Before district play opens Sept. 11 against Eaton, Carroll faces a demanding non-district stretch: Frisco Walnut Grove (Tuesday, Aug. 11), Colleyville at home (Tuesday, Aug. 18), Denton Guyer at home (Friday, Aug. 21), Prosper (Tuesday, Aug. 25), Flower Mound (Tuesday, Sept. 1), McKinney Boyd (Friday, Sept. 4) and Keller Central (Tuesday, Sept. 8). Carroll swept Flower Mound 3–0 in last year's regional final en route to the state tournament.
