Colleyville residents who served in the U.S. military can pick up free commemorative lawn signs at City Hall ahead of Veterans Day.
The city announced the program on Tuesday, Oct. 6, offering the signs to any resident with military service as well as Gold Star families who want to honor a loved one. The signs are available on the third floor of City Hall, at 100 Main St., in the City Manager's Office.
Residents must bring proof of residency.
The city did not specify an end date for the program or what forms of proof are accepted. Residents with questions can email [email protected].
The yard signs are the latest in a series of veteran-focused efforts from Colleyville. The city declared itself a Purple Heart City in April 2025, recognizing the sacrifices of Purple Heart recipients at a City Council meeting.
Three Colleyville residents received Congressional Veteran Commendations from Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne in November 2025: First Sgt. Robert Hazlewood, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.); Sgt. Eric Newton, U.S. Army (Ret.); and Capt. James Palmersheim, U.S. Army (Ret.). Three additional Colleyville Vietnam veterans were recognized with Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins at the same time, according to city records.
In June, the city opened Heroes Park, a veterans memorial adjacent to City Hall with space to honor about 430 local service members. At least 193 veterans were recognized at the park's grand opening on June 26, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
"It's a big deal to not only honor our community heroes, but our heroes abroad that have served in the military that are originally from Colleyville," Mayor Bobby Lindamood said in a June Star-Telegram interview about the park's opening.
The signs give veterans and Gold Star families a way to mark the holiday from their own front yards. Signs are available weekdays at City Hall, 100 Main St.
