Colleyville voters heading to the polls this November will find early voting has moved from the public library to the Recreation Center Annex A on Roberts Road, if Tarrant County commissioners approve a proposed 45% cut to Election Day polling sites on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The proposal, first reported by the Fort Worth Report, would slash Election Day sites countywide from 316 to 176 and trim early voting locations from 50 to 42. Colleyville Public Library at 110 Main Street is among the early voting sites slated for elimination.

More than 1.3 million registered voters in Tarrant County face a November ballot with more than 70 partisan races at the county, state and federal levels, plus nonpartisan seats on the Tarrant Appraisal District board and the Keller ISD board of trustees.

Three TAD board seats are up Nov. 3, including Place 2, currently held by former Colleyville council member Callie Rigney, and Place 3, held by former Carroll ISD trustee Matt Bryant. We reported July 18 on the filing period for those seats.

Same split expected

Commissioners are scheduled to vote at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4. The court is composed of County Judge Tim O'Hare and four commissioners: Roderick Miles Jr. (Precinct 1), Alisa Simmons (Precinct 2), Matt Krause (Precinct 3) and Manny Ramirez (Precinct 4).

In August 2025, the same court voted 3-2 to cut more than 100 Election Day sites for that year's election. O'Hare proposed the reductions, citing cost savings and lower turnout in non-presidential years, according to the Texas Tribune. Simmons and Miles voted against the cuts, arguing they reduced accessibility for voters, particularly in communities of color.

O'Hare, Krause and Ramirez are Republicans. Simmons is a Democrat. Miles voted with Simmons against the 2025 cuts.

None of the five commissioners responded to requests for comment before publication.

Why some sites can't return

Some locations used in past elections, including the Maverick Activities Center at UT-Arlington, no longer meet a new state requirement that voting equipment be stored in a locked room, according to the Fort Worth Report.

How to weigh in

The Tuesday, Aug. 4 commissioners court meeting is open to the public. Residents can register to speak or submit written comments on agenda items at tarrantcountytx.gov.

Early voting for the November election runs Monday, Oct. 19 through Friday, Oct. 30. The voter registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 5. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
