Grapevine Mills shoppers will have a new sandal and casual footwear option this fall when Flip Flop Shops opens in Suite 303, the space left empty after Squishable closed in late June.

Grapevine Mills representative Andrea Taylor confirmed the opening to Community Impact, which reported the news on Sunday, July 26. The store will carry brands including Birkenstock, Crocs, Havaianas and Rainbow.

The Grapevine location, at 3000 Grapevine Mills Parkway, will be only the chain's second operating store, Taylor said. The first is in Port Aransas on the Texas coast.

Flip Flop Shops was founded in 2004 and once operated more than 60 franchise locations across the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, according to a 2019 company press release. The chain's current operating footprint could not be independently verified, though its website still describes it as a retailer with "locations throughout North America."

Filling a fresh vacancy

Squishable, the plush toy retailer, vacated Suite 303 in late June 2026, a mall representative confirmed to Community Impact in a report published July 7.

Flip Flop Shops' arrival means the space will have sat empty for only a few months.

The opening adds to a wave of new tenants at the mall. Dig World, a construction-themed adventure park, opened at Grapevine Mills on July 11.

Ulta Beauty is also expected to open a new store at the mall this fall, occupying roughly 6,545 square feet, according to state permitting documents showing a $650,790 interior renovation with a target completion date of September 21.

What's next

No date has been set. Taylor confirmed only a fall 2026 opening window, and neither a franchisee nor a store operator has been publicly identified for the Grapevine Mills location. Shoppers can check flipflopshops.com for updates.
