Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Superintendent Dr. Jason Adams is asking residents to help set the district's priorities at two public meetings in October.

Adams announced a communitywide Listening Tour that will bring him to Grapevine High School on Thursday, Oct. 8, and Colleyville Heritage High School on Monday, Oct. 19.

Both sessions start at 6 p.m. in each school's cafeteria and are open to anyone in the community.

The tour, announced on the district's website, will ask attendees three questions: What should GCISD continue doing? What should GCISD stop doing? What should GCISD start doing? Responses will help shape the district's short- and long-term goals, according to the district.

"By leading with listening, we will honor GCISD's rich traditions, build understanding, make connections and define partnerships that will help us adapt for the future," Adams said in the announcement.

The initiative is Adams's first large-scale community outreach since the GCISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved his contract on June 15. Adams joined GCISD after 28 years in public education, most recently as deputy superintendent of Garland ISD.

Adams signaled the listen-first approach in an Aug. 20 interview with Community Impact, saying he wanted to "understand the landscape" and fully grasp issues before making decisions. He noted the district has faced tough choices in recent years.

Those challenges include declining enrollment, the pressure to keep teacher salaries competitive and roughly $30 million a year sent back to the state under Texas's recapture formula, Adams told Community Impact in that same interview.

The Listening Tour comes as GCISD earned its first A rating in the Texas Education Agency's (TEA) 2026 accountability system, scoring 91 overall. The district had earned a B the prior year. Both Grapevine High School and Colleyville Heritage High School earned A ratings and five distinction designations each, according to district records.

Sessions for staff and students are also planned at individual campuses throughout September and October.

The Grapevine High session will be held at 3223 Mustang Drive, Grapevine. The Colleyville Heritage session will be at 5401 Heritage Avenue, Colleyville. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP at dradamslisteningtour.gcisd.net.
