Masco Service Corporation, the family-owned aviation electronics company headquartered on South Dooley Street in Grapevine, is expanding its North Texas footprint with a $3.5 million avionics shop and airplane hangar near Denton Enterprise Airport.

The project, filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Thursday, July 9, calls for a 20,935-square-foot facility at 2677 Airport Road in Denton, at the southwest corner of Skylane and Airport Road near the airport entrance. That's about 30 miles northwest of Masco's Grapevine headquarters. A Denton Enterprise Airport representative confirmed the location to Community Impact.

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, August 24, 2026, with completion estimated by Friday, July 30, 2027, according to the TDLR filing. The project is privately funded on private land, with no public subsidy or city incentive listed in the permit record.

The property owner on the filing is Jeff Massey Real Estate LLC, registered at Masco's Grapevine address. Jeff Massey, who serves as company president, is listed as the project contact. Bates & Martin Architects of Denton is the design firm.

The new facility would be comparable in size to Masco's existing Grapevine headquarters, which spans roughly 20,000 square feet according to a 2019 Vertical magazine profile of the company. That profile described a firm with about 65 employees at the time, across two FAA- and EASA-approved repair stations in Grapevine and Lafayette, Louisiana.

Founded in 1968 by Bill Massey at Love Field in Dallas, Masco specializes in aircraft instrument, avionics, and accessory repair. The company holds ISO9001 and AS9100D certifications and is an authorized service center for manufacturers including Honeywell and Safran. Helicopters are a specialty, with Masco supporting what it calls the largest fleet of operators in North America.

"We're proud of the fact that we're still a family-owned and -operated business," Jeff Massey told Vertical magazine during a visit to the Grapevine shop in January 2019. "There's been a lot of family-owned and -operated businesses in this industry that have been bought, and the family's long gone — and we're one of the few that remain."

Jeff and his brother Clay Massey, the company's vice president, represent the second generation of Masseys running the firm. A third generation, including Jeff's children Cole and Kristen and Clay's son Joe, had joined the company as of that 2019 profile.

Masco did not respond to requests for comment about the Denton expansion in reporting by Community Impact. No zoning hearing or public comment period appears required for the project, given its private-land status.
