Kitchen Master, a family-owned restaurant known for hand-crafted dumplings and wok-fired stir-fry, opened its second location at 3311 E. SH 114 in Southlake on July 29, filling a storefront that sat empty for more than a year after Mughlai Fine Indian Restaurant closed in April 2024.

The Southlake menu blends Chinese, Japanese, and Thai influences, restaurant staff told Community Impact. Diners can order house soup dumplings, sushi including nigiri and sashimi, teriyaki chicken, black pepper steak, and crab Rangoon.

Frisco roots

Kitchen Master's original location in Frisco has built a loyal following since opening in 2020, accumulating 548 Yelp reviews as of February 2026.

The Dallas Observer named the Frisco restaurant one of the 10 best Chinese restaurants in the Dallas area in December 2025, highlighting its Taiwanese-style dumplings, housemade beef noodle soup, and full bar with beer, sake, and cocktails.

The Frisco location describes itself as specializing in hand-crafted dumplings, freshly made noodles, and stir-fry straight from the wok. Whether the Southlake menu carries the same full bar and noodle offerings has not been confirmed.

The space

Mughlai Fine Indian Restaurant had operated at the SH 114 address since 2017. The space went dark after Mughlai shut its doors in April 2024.

Kitchen Master's Instagram account, @kitchenmaster.tx, posted a hiring notice on July 9 announcing the Southlake address and projecting an "early August" opening. It opened early.
