A Fort Worth-founded community bank is upgrading its Grapevine presence from an appointment-only loan office to a full-service branch at 803 E. Northwest Highway, next to Dutch Bros.
NBT Financial Bank plans to open the location in mid-September, with a grand opening celebration in early October, according to a sponsored press release the bank published Wednesday, July 16, through Community Impact Newspaper. Founded in 1973 on Fort Worth's Northside, the bank's first customers were machine shops contracted to help build the F-16 fighter jet at General Dynamics' Plant 4.
The Grapevine branch will be NBT's first walk-in location in the city. The bank currently operates a loan production office at 1000 Texan Trail but has never had a full-service branch here.
Janice Spooner, the bank's senior vice president and regional president for the Grapevine market, said the location will emphasize in-person lending decisions over algorithmic ones.
"We understand complicated income, and we read the whole story, not just an algorithm or a credit score," Spooner said in the press release.
Seth Colten will serve as vice president and branch manager at the new location, according to the bank's website.
Joining five existing branches
The Grapevine branch will join full-service locations in Northside Fort Worth, Hurst, Burleson, Azle and Willow Park. A Camp Bowie location in Fort Worth's Westside is also under construction and expected to open in 2026. The bank rebranded from The National Bank of Texas to NBT Financial Bank in 2022 and operates under Chairman Steve Eargle and CEO Wade Donnell.
Founding 50 promotion
NBT is running a "Founding 50" initiative tied to the new branch: for each of the first 50 customers who open a deposit account, the bank will donate $100 to a local nonprofit chosen by the customer. The six eligible organizations are GRACE Grapevine, Grapevine Colleyville Education Foundation, Grapevine Animal Services, The Gatehouse, Grapevine Heritage Foundation and House of Shine.
The bank also sponsors monthly Mustang of the Month and Panther of the Month scholarships recognizing Grapevine-Colleyville ISD students for leadership and service.
Construction timeline
A groundbreaking ceremony took place Thursday, January 8. Dirt work began Monday, February 3, and footings and stem walls were being installed as of Saturday, April 5, according to the bank's construction updates page. The bank has not announced a specific opening date beyond mid-September.
