Drivers on Brumlow Avenue in Southlake will lose a lane Monday, July 20, while Public Works crews repair the road at the new entrance to the Municipal Service Center at 1630 Brumlow Ave.
The work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is expected to wrap up in a single day, weather permitting, according to a city civic alert posted Wednesday, July 16. Flaggers will direct traffic through the construction zone. The city advised drivers to use caution and expect brief delays.
The repair is the latest activity tied to the Municipal Service Center and Public Safety Training Tower, a major capital project the Southlake City Council approved Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The city held a groundbreaking Thursday, June 26, 2025, and targets an early 2027 opening.
The facility sits on a 12.5-acre tract between Continental Avenue and Texas 26. It will consolidate six Public Works divisions — Water, Wastewater, Streets & Drainage, Traffic, Environmental Services, and Facilities — that are split between City Hall and 1950 E. Continental Blvd. The utility billing department will also relocate from City Hall. The complex includes a 21,000-square-foot administrative building, a 17,000-square-foot vehicle and material storage building, and a 50-foot public safety training tower.
Project manager Mamerto Estepa oversees the construction. As of Wednesday, July 2, walls were in place at the main building and work on service bays and the training tower was continuing, according to the city's capital improvement project page.
Busy month for Southlake road crews
The Brumlow repair is one of at least six road and utility projects underway across Southlake in July. According to a city alert posted Wednesday, July 9, other active projects include:
- Underground utility work on E. Texas 114 between W. Kirkwood Boulevard and T.W. King Road (began Monday, July 13; expected through approximately July 27)
- Utility work near the S. White Chapel Boulevard and E. Continental Boulevard roundabout (through end of July)
- Atmos gas utility work on N. Carroll Avenue between Ownby Lane and E. Southlake Boulevard (through end of July)
- Road improvements on S. White Chapel Boulevard from Continental Boulevard to Southlake Boulevard (July 15–24)
- Concrete road repairs near 1080 S. Carroll Avenue (July 14–24, with one lane closed daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Brumlow Avenue also had a water service line repair between 1213 and 1215 Brumlow Ave. on July 8–9.
