More than 950 Southlake residents have already registered for the city's new Utility Access Portal, a redesigned online system for paying water and stormwater bills that went live last Tuesday.

The portal replaces the city's previous payment website with a mobile-friendly interface that cuts down the number of steps needed to pay a bill, according to My Southlake News.

More than 580 residents have enrolled in AutoPay since launch.

"We're excited to see residents already embracing the new Utility Access Portal," said Nicole Bradshaw, the city's deputy director of finance. "We expect those numbers to continue climbing during the next billing cycle."

What's new

The portal accepts American Express for the first time. Residents can also view billing history, update payment details, manage communication preferences, and handle multiple properties under a single login. One-time payments can be made without creating an account.

The numbers are growing fast.

One catch for existing customers: residents who were previously enrolled in AutoPay must re-establish their automatic payments through the new system. Those who pay through their bank's own bill-pay service do not need to make changes, and their account numbers remain the same.

In-person help available

Residents who want hands-on assistance setting up the portal can visit Town Hall, Suite 200 (second floor), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Traditional payment methods, including in-person at City Hall, drop boxes, and mail-in payments, remain available.

What's next

The city is working on smart meter integration within the portal, according to My Southlake News. No timeline has been announced, but the project is underway.
